I was immediately swept away in the world created by MacCullough in the first book of what promises to be an amazing series. Perhaps others will get something different from this book, but for me it was a major disappointment. Gabriel was a 19 year old guy who made no qualms about the fact that he thought about sex all the time like a normal guy.
And to her horror, Tamsin finally understands the nature of her fateful choice.

Oct 25, Bry rated it liked it Shelves: Sure, Tamsin did the right thing and it is consistent to show her being courageous, but I expected her to be more afraid, more desperate to find an alternative solution in the end and to be a little more spunky and inconventional altogether.
He doesn’t hide is interest in Tamsin and is very soon part of the happenings! She can’t reveal maccullougy magical side to her human friends and can’t explain her human fascination with her magical family. Manuela Soares No, she doesn’t. It surprised me in the end with the depth of the emotion and the maturity of the characters, namely Tam, and just slightly less so Gabriel.

She has a really good character in Tamsin Greene, and it will be interesting to see if this series continues. Bagi saya, Carolyn berhasil menemukan ramuan baru dengan membangun sebuah dunia sihir kuno yang suram, mencekam, dan sulit ditebak bagaimana ujungnya. Although the story is written for ages 12 and over – no matter what the age, this is a story that can be enjoyed by anyone who enjoys urban fantasy. Second, I can absorb a person’s Talent if they attempt to use it against me three times.
Characterization was great, even with the secondary characters.

Nanti saya coba bandingkan dengan edisi bahasa Inggrisnya deh. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. Tamsin is a pretty normal YA heroine. Overall, it was just fun. I loved the chemistry and interactions Tamsin had with the witchh lead.
Overall, however, this is a book I would recommend for anyone looking for a well-written, fast paced read that’s not too taxing on the brain. Other than Harry Potter, I can’t help but think of pointy hatted women with warts, and that You can check out more reviews on my blog: I still think that Ms.
She is also a true survivor, as evidenced by her willingness to improvise and persist against overwhelming odds as she deals with the horrible Knight family in the 19th century, completely out of her element, cut off from all support. She runs into a man named Horace in a bar who offers her a job at the Knight household as a lady’s maid. It made me want to use one of Tamsin’s Grandma’s “Ah”s once everything was revealed.
I personally wish there could have been a few more swoony moments, but those wishing for more kicking and less kissing will like the de-emphasis of the romance. Crazy for Young A One night a handsome young professor from New York University arrives in the shop and mistakes Tamsin for her extremely Talented older sister. It does suffer from a few plot holes and a confusing ending, but I’m glad MacCallough strayed away from the pac I felt like I flew through this book! While I know a story that starts out with a witch foretold to be most powerful, but who shows no signs of such, will inevitably gain the powers despite the delay A huge thank you to Carolyn for making this Mundie Mom stay up way past her bedtime. Since this was a YA urban fantasy, the love interest, Gabriel, made his impact without stealing the show.
I would totally recommend it.
Once a Witch (Witch, #1) by Carolyn MacCullough
She learns the nature of the terrible choice that was prophesied in Once a Witch. For example, Tamsin’s aunt can freeze people, not literally freeze them, but make their body stop. I think I see a sequel in the future for this one.
